The AfterSchool Program has been providing care for children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 since 1980. AfterSchool was created to meet the needs of families seeking an out-of school time program for their children that is an enriching and social experience.
The AfterSchool Program takes place in three separate town-owned buildings, Harvey Wheeler Community Center-Grades K-2, Hunt Recreation Center-Grades 3-5 and Terrific Tuesdays-Concord Public Schools (TBD). Transportation is provided by the Concord Public Schools from each child’s school to their AfterSchool Program site.
The daily schedule at all sites includes time for supervised indoor and outdoor play, special events, and homework, along with science, arts and crafts and cooking projects, clubs that meet once a week and field trips throughout the year.
The AfterSchool and BeforeSchool Programs follow the school year calendar and will operate when school is open. Concord Recreation does have coverage for vacation weeks and professional days that are separate from AfterSchool and BeforeSchool.
Please see the list of offerings on the Programs and Events page for the no school day programs.
The AfterSchool program is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care.
